This conference is organized on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Michel Waldschmidt.  Reflecting Waldschmidt’s broad interests, the conference will be devoted to all of Number Theory, with a special emphasis on his main topics of interest, Number Theory and Diophantine Approximation.  It will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the state of the art in many classical topics in these fields, but also to explore new fast emerging important topics, such as unlikely intersections, Bogomolov and Lehmer problems, and André-Oort conjectures.

Classical and Quantum Motion in Disordered Environment

This conference, in honor of Ilya Goldsheid’s 70th birthday, is devoted to three subjects on the interface between mathematical physics, probability and analysis: products of random matrices, the spectral properties of random operators, and random walk in random enviroment.  Particular emphasis will be on the recent developments in these fields and the interrelations between them.

Transformation Groups 2017

This conference, in honor of Ernest Vinberg’s 80th birthday, aims to review recent developments in transformation group theory, present the brightest recent achievements, and discuss perspectives of further research.  Main topics will be:  

  • Algebraic groups and geometric invariant theory
  • Transformation groups in differential geometry and analysis
  • Structures and representation theory of Lie algebras and their generalizations
  • Discrete subgroups of Lie groups and discrete transformation groups

The conference will present a broad look at recent progress in the field, highlighting new techniques and ideas.

Women in Numbers 4

WIN4 is the fourth conference in a series supporting the continued development of the female number theory community by bringing together researchers at various stages of their careers for research collaboration and mentorship.  The scientific focus of the conference centers around several cutting edge topics in number theory, including arithmetic dynamics, Apollonian circle packings, arithmetic statistics, and nonarchimedean geometry.

Harmonic Analysis and its Interactions

Over the last decade the international research landscape in harmonic analysis has seen a dramatic and unexpected broadening of its connectivity within mathematics. The emergence of surprising new approaches to longstanding problems at the heart of the subject has led to many high-profile breakthroughs across mathematics. Many of these new developments can be traced back to the foundational contributions of Tony Carbery, who has been the leading figure in the development of euclidean harmonic analysis in the UK for the last three decades, and has long been a key figure internationally. This excitement is attracting considerable attention internationally, and progress is currently fast-moving. The purpose of the proposed conference is to honour Tony Carbery by bringing together many of the key drivers of research in harmonic analysis at these important interfaces, at a time when international interest is at a peak. The central role of UK activity in these major developments makes the ICMS an ideal venue for such a conference at this time.

This conference will focus attention on aspects of harmonic analysis lying at the forefront of research in pure mathematics. Developments in just the last five years have transformed the profile of modern harmonic analysis, drawing attention from many communities, from the more classical dispersive PDEs and analytic number theory, to the more surprising algebraic geometry and topology. 

The surge in pace of progress in harmonic analysis over the last five years has exposed a wide variety of new and unexpected methodologies and applications. It is widely considered that the exploitation of these new ideas and approaches is still in its infancy.
This workshop is intended to capitalise on this by drawing together research leaders in harmonic analysis at its interfaces across mathematics.

International Conference on Formal Power Series and Algebraic Combinatorics (FPSAC)

The FPSAC conference series focusses on algebraic and enumerative combinatorics and connections between these topics, other areas of mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, and physics.  FPSAC’s one-week annual meetings attract top mathematicians and offer young researchers a unique opportunity to interact closely with them.

Random Walks with Memory

This conference will focus on non-Markovian random walks, including models with long-memory effects produced by self-interaction or the influence of random media.  These models provide a variety of complex large-scale disordered phenomena with motivations arising from fields such as physics, biology and engineering. Deep relations have emerged or are conjectured with quantum field theory, the KPZ universality class and the theory of Anderson localization.  This meeting will emphasize non-reversible random walks in random environments and self-interacting random walks, for which fundamental questions have resisted repeated and persistent attempts to answer them.
