Dynamics and Rigidity: a Celebration of the Mathematics of Alex Eskin

This conference will cover recent progress in the theory of dynamical systems and their applications to geometry and number theory. In recent years there have been spectacular advances in the area, highlighting various connections between dynamics, rigidity, Diophantine approximation, combinatorics, and many other areas of mathematics. Many of the recent developments are made possible by the previous groundbreaking work of Alex Eskin, whose 60th birthday will be celebrated.

Representation Theory Days

This mini-conference is being held in honor of George Lusztig on the occasion of his retirement. Professor Lusztig is a towering figure of representation theory whose contributions have shaped core areas of the subject. The mini-conference offers an excellent opportunity to summarize the state of the art in these areas and provides a venue for exchange of ideas stimulating further progress in the subject.

PAD 2025: Probability, Analysis and Dynamics

Probability, analysis and dynamics are three central areas of mathematics in which the UK has a leading position. It is difficult to say exactly where the boundaries between the three fields lie; they have many tools in common and problems in one of the fields are often motivated by results or problems in another. All three topics have physics as an underlying source of questions. Despite this, there are relatively few opportunities for researchers in these fields to interact with each other. This conference gives mathematicians the opportunity to interact with the international speakers who are setting the research agendas for their subjects.

Hyperbolic Manifolds, Their Submanifolds and Fundamental Groups

The main subject of the conference is about recent developments in hyperbolic geometry and hyperbolic group theory also covering some other closely related areas. The subsequent workshop will provide an in depth introduction to several key topics of the conference.

20 Years of Anosov Representations

Since their introduction in François Labourie’s seminal 2004 paper, Anosov representations have been a driving force in the study of discrete subgroups of higher-rank Lie groups, and have helped to stimulate two decades of research in the area. This conference/workshop, celebrating 20 years of progress in the field, brings together researchers studying the geometric, dynamical, and algebraic aspects of Anosov representations, as well as their connections to other topics.

The event will consist of a two-day introductory workshop for younger mathematicians, intended to provide an overview of Anosov representations for those new to the subject, followed by a three-day research conference focusing on recent developments.

Young Researchers in Algebraic Number Theory (Y-RANT)

Y-RANT is an annual conference primarily aimed at early career researchers (Ph.D. students and postdocs) working in, or interested in, algebraic number theory, analytic number theory and related topics. It provides a great chance to meet other early career number theorists, get a feeling for the interests of the broader community, and discuss ideas in a friendly and engaging environment. All participants are strongly encouraged to give a talk, either on their own research, or on a topic of interest.

Harmonic Analysis and Differential Equations

This conference brings together the leading international and Australian mathematicians, Early Careers Researchers and PhD students in harmonic analysis and partial differential equations for the dissemination of the most recent developments in these fields, exchanging ideas, and fostering and strengthening collaborations. This conference will focus on new advances in harmonic analysis and applications, especially those to which Professor Jill Pipher has made lasting contributions. These include multiparameter harmonic analysis, theory of elliptic & parabolic equations, function space and weighted theory.

Computational Aspects of Thin Groups

Arithmetic groups have long been of interest in number theory (e.g. via the theory of automorphic forms), geometry (e.g. building interesting examples of Riemannian manifolds), and topology (e.g. computing (co)homology of locally symmetric spaces). Yet, their subgroup structure, particularly of their infinite index subgroups, remains mysterious.

Thin groups are such infinite index subgroups that have come to prominence recently because they arise naturally in various contexts with connections to number theory, geometry and topology.

The focus of this two-week event is on computational aspects of thin groups. The recent activity highlights the need for algorithms and procedures to study these groups, this event is the first aimed specifically at addressing this topic.
