Modern Topics in Nonlinear PDE and Geometric Analysis
Date: 4 - 8 July 2016
Location: University of Reading
Event type: CMI-LMS Research School
Organisers: Stefanos Aretakis (Princeton) and Nikos Katzourakis (Reading)
This school will cover important recent developments in three central areas of mathematical analysis, namely calculus of variations, geometric nonlinear PDE and mathematical phyiscs. For each of these research areas there will be a course consisting of two mini-courses:
- Nonlinear PDE and Calculus of Variations (Lawrence C. Evans, Berkeley and Jan Kristensen, Oxford)
- Geometric Hyperbolic PDE, General Relativity and Fluid Dynamics (Mihalis Dafermos, Princeton and Gustav Holzegel, Imperial)
- Geometric Nonlinear PDE (Bernard Dacorogna, EPFL and Spyros Alexakis, Toronto)
The school will also include guest lectures given by Robert Jensen (Loyola) and Juan Manfredi(Pittsburgh)
